I grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and I love winter sports because they require a lot of kinetic energy. I am not a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs because they do not play winning hockey. I prefer the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have won many championships since 1992.
This preference for winning teams is a skill that has also served me well in business and finance, where opportunity cost is an important concept. Opportunity cost is the cost of choosing one option over another. In order to make the best decision, we need to rank the options from best to worst.
Nationalism is a Homer Bias
I believe that nationalism is a social construct that is used to co-opt people into identifying with a particular nation-state. Many people are born into a nation-state that they did not choose. Therefore, I do not believe that nationalism is a valid basis for making decisions.
Social engineers used the similarities in people's genetic phenotypes to convince them that nationalities exist, even though most borders in the world are relatively new. Policymakers then distorted commentary on nation-states as a form of racism or prejudice in order to defend themselves from ideological opposition.
Invert the Hierarchy
Instead, I believe that we should be objective and pursue the best course of action, regardless of where it comes from. This means that we should not blindly follow our nationality, but should instead consider all of the available options and make the decision that is best for us.
The Truth
There are only a few truly great nation-states throughout history and today.
I want to know the few great nation states! Whats the II opinion?
